Local artists Matt Rees and Bekka Sage are presenting a shared gallery showing at Conspire: Contemporary Craft on Friday, June 7, at 6 p.m. Both artists will be present on opening night and, in addition to showing their work, both will give live printing demonstrations, explaining the techniques behind their art. The exhibition will run through the month of June.
Matt lives in Putnam County and says its predominately rural landscape continually feeds his appreciation and wonder for the natural world. His interpretations of ecosystems, and the creatures inhabiting them, lean toward the neo-folk art tradition. That’s one of his prints, “Sardines in Oil,” above.
Bekka is an Indianapolis-based printmaker who’s an artist at heart but a designer in practice. She is the brand manager at Hendricks Regional Health and dreams about the opportunity to paint murals.
