The year-long series of monthly hiking tours will highlight a variety of local trails, nature preserves and parks. Guided by a professional in their field, each hike will include learning about some type of wildlife, native plant or other nature-oriented topic.
The People Pathways is a 17+ mile urban and rural system of trails in Putnam County. The Pathways links to the National Road Heritage Trail and the United States Bike Route 50. Grab your bike and head over to the People Pathways (Vandalia Trail) in Fillmore, Indiana for an opportunity to cycle a portion of the trail with an NRCS Soil Conservation Technician! Participants will have an opportunity to learn about and identify various conservation practices along with plant species and wildlife observed along the trail.
The bike trip will consist of a 1.5-mile ride out from the start and a 1.5-mile return ride, for a total of 3 miles. Participants may turn back at any point along the trail if they would like to return sooner or continue on. Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle. Appropriate for all ages. Participants must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend. Free to attend. To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
