Putnam Parks & Pathways will begin hosting a Monthly Hiking Tour Series that will highlight a variety of local trails, nature preserves, and parks. Guided by a professional in their field, each hike will consist of learning about some type of wildlife, native plant, or other nature-oriented discussions.
We will take an out-and-back hike to view the trail as winter sets in. The Nature Trail is part of People Pathways in Putnam County. There is a short bluebird trail along the path. We will check the boxes and clean the boxes out so the boxes will be ready for the Eastern Bluebirds in the spring. Across the Southern Highway is the southern edge of the Wisconsin Glacier, which was the last glacier in Indiana. Greencastle and Northern Putnam County were covered by 700 feet of ice about 31,500 years ago. The rocks and boulders found in Putnam County tumbled down from mountains in Canada and were carried by the Glaciers and dropped here.
