Using The Micro:Bit

January 27, 2023 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Putnam Counties’ only “maker-space”, Castlemakers, is dedicated to promoting and encouraging scientific and creative skills through building projects, education, mentorship, sharing, and relationships. Offering a wide variety of specific classes, open hours, and opportunities to participate in community events. Castlemakers regularly host “Putt-Putnam”, a mini-golf hole competition that takes place during the October First Friday in downtown Greencastle, though this barely scratches the surface of all they do.

During the special learning session, Using The Micro:Bit, Castlemakers will teach participants all about micro:bits, a kid-friendly single board computer. It has enough onboard sensors and accessories to measure and record data, can control other devices, and even play simple games. Easy enough for anyone to program, but enough power to challenge more experienced users too. Suggested donation is $10 for the class, which includes what you’ll need to write programs to our micro:bits (or bring your own) and any help you need to create something impressive!
