Monthly Hiking Tour

April 15, 2023 9:00am - 10:00am

Putnam Parks & Pathways hosts a Monthly Hiking Tour Series that will highlight a variety of local trails, nature preserves, and parks. Guided by a professional in their field, each hike will consist of learning about some type of wildlife, native plant, or other nature-oriented discussions.

Our second hike in April will be held at Fern Cliff Nature Preserve. This hike will be led by Mike Homoya. Mike has served as botanist/plant ecologist for the division of Natural Preserves, Indiana Department of Natural Resources from 1982 until retirement. He is the author of Orchids of Indiana, Wildflowers and Ferns of Indiana Forests and coauthor of Wake Up Woods.  Mike has served as President of the Indiana Native Plant Society. “Throughout the growing season, there are plants of almost every size, shape and color. Look and you will see,” he wrote. Mike will share his knowledge of spring wildflowers and ferns.

The group will meet at the parking lot off of West County Road 375 South, the address is: W County Rd 375 S, Greencastle, IN 46135 – Click here to see the Google Map view.
