Contemporary cuisine featuring locally grown, in-season ingredients.
Located in what is believed to be the first building built on Putnam County’s Courthouse Square, Almost Home has a reputation for being the county’s finest “white tablecloth” restaurant. But pay attention to the name. You’ll feel as though you’re “almost home.” The atmosphere is casual, the prices reasonable, the food outstanding, the portions large, and the wait staff top-notch.
But stop in for the dessert tray. There’s a reason the main entrance opens into a bakery counter, and many locals stop just for carry-out baked goods. Almost Home is known for its Strawberry Pizza, and the bakery counter offers it by the pie and by the slice. It’s good year-round, and especially in the summer.
The adjacent Swizzle Stick Bar, adorned with an extensive collection of Chicago Cubs memorabilia, is home to live bands, karaoke, a wide variety of evening entertainment, and great drinks. Stop by and enjoy a meal, a homemade dessert and a relaxing time that’s like being “almost home.”
