This lively eatery has been an Indiana mainstay since 1870. The logo hasn't changed, and the original restaurant sign welcomes guests to the Duck's "new" nest inside the Inn at DePauw.
The Fluttering Duck has been around so long, everyone calls it the Duck. It features casual dining seven days a week in an eclectic atmosphere and offers outdoor patio dining during spring, summer and fall, sports on the big-screen, a pool table, and great late-night fun with digital jukebox and live entertainment. Weekends are popular, especially at tourney times. A media wall with five flat-screen TVs displays simultaneous local and national sporting events.
Live music, comedy and karaoke are regularly featured, and nearly year-round there’s a weekly concert. Jazz at the Duck, on Thursday nights throughout the winter, draws big names from country’s jazz community. As the weather warms, jazz gives way to Acoustic Sunsets, the weekly live concert series performed under the pergola over the patio. The Duck’s musical vibe has given rise to more than a few Indianapolis-area rock and jazz bands that got their start here.
Year-round, appetizers are plentiful and designed to share. The casual menu features a wide variety of campus favorites. Beverages include one of central Indiana’s largest micro brew assortments. Freshly-made pasta dishes and grilled-to-order steaks highlight the entrée options, while signature burgers, wraps and panini sandwiches–with a multitude of specialty side dish choices–complete the menu. No meal at the Duck is complete without a warm brownie sundae for dessert!
