Putnam Parks & Pathways hosts a Monthly Hiking Tour Series that will highlight a variety of local trails, nature preserves, and parks. Guided by a professional in their field, each hike will consist of learning about some type of wildlife, native plant, or other nature-oriented discussions.
The July hike, Sunflowers and Sunshine, will be Saturday, July 8 at the Deer Creek Fish & Wildlife Area. Members of the Putnam County Bird Club will lead the hike through the wildlife area to several prominent birding locations. Multiple pairs of binoculars are available on a first-come-first-serve basis for those that do not have their own. In addition to the birding, the hike will go alongside a gorgeous sunflower planting that should be in full bloom. As always, the hikes are free, open to the public, and welcoming of any age.
The group will meet by the pond, at the end of the road from the main entrance. The address to the main entrance is listed here: 2 S County Rd 200 W, Greencastle, IN 46135 – Click here to see the Google Map view.
