Putnam Parks & Pathways hosts a Monthly Hiking Tour Series that will highlight a variety of local trails, nature preserves, and parks. Guided by a professional in their field, each hike will consist of learning about some type of wildlife, native plant, or other nature-oriented discussions.
After the New Year’s Day hike started the year at Lieber State Recreation Area, we shift back to the city of Greencastle and head out to the DePauw Nature Park for February and March. While February’s hike will focus on the strata in the rock walls, the March hike will look at the amphibians living in and around the lake at the center of the quarry. Both hikes will be led by DePauw University professors and accompanied by resident Putnam Parks & Pathways outdoor expect, John Garner. All hikes are free, open to the public, and welcoming of any age.
The group will meet at the main parking lot for the DePauw Nature Park off of West Walnut Street, the address is: 1400 W County Road 125 S, Greencastle, IN 46135 – Click here to see the Google Map view.
